Give new students a warm Hoosier welcome by volunteering to be an IU Guide. All you need is enthusiasm, a desire to help, and an IU username and passphrase so you can sign up.
Two or three IU Guides will be stationed at each of several campus locations on the first two days of fall classes, in 60 minute shifts between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. (We recommend arriving 10 minutes before your shift starts.) FYE team leaders will provide you an IU Guides T-shirt, campus maps, and any other materials you may need to support new students.
Volunteers can sign up the summer prior, and detailed information will be included in your registration confirmation.

During the summer New Student Orientation program, we open a resource center in the Herman B Wells Library for IU offices to connect with incoming students and their families. You can create a display, hand out literature, and tell students and their families about your office’s services. Participating offices are required to have staff available on site to answer questions. The resource center is open only to IU offices. Student organizations and clubs are invited to share their information with new students during the Student Involvement Fair held each fall.
The OTeam helps us introduce new IU students to our campus during New Student Orientation. As a faculty or staff member, you’re in a great position to tell us about excellent student leaders. Please contact us if you have recommendations for the OTeam.
