First-Generation

FYE is here to help in your transition to IU Bloomington

Welcome, first-generation Hoosiers! We are so excited you’re here. If you’re the first in your family to go to college or your parents didn't graduate with a bachelor's degree—even if you have siblings in college—you’re a part of the Hoosier First Gen community.

At IU Bloomington, we have a large First Gen community that includes students, faculty, staff, and alumni, all of whom are here to support and celebrate you and your accomplishments.

Nearly 30% of all IU students are first-gen.
