Just for Transfers

FYE is here to answer your questions as you transition to IUB.
Are you wondering how you can meet other students and get involved on campus? Do you have concerns about living on or off campus or how to contact your academic advisor? There are many resources to help you successfully transition to the IU Bloomington campus and community.

  • Thinking About Transferring to IU?

Call to schedule an appointment with Admissions to visit and take a tour of campus! You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions during a one-on-one meeting, and get a feel for what it's like to be at IUB. More information can be found on the Office of Admissions website.

  • Transfer Student Facebook Group

This group consists of students transferring to IU Bloomington, and is a great way to get connected with roommates, ask questions, and learn more about campus and Bloomington. The group will also keep students up-to-date on programs and events designed specifically for transfer students. Students can join at IUB Transfer Students on Facebook.

  • Tau Sigma Honor Society

Tau Sigma is a national academic honor society for students who have transferred from one institution (or institutions) to another and have made high academic achievement during their first term. Since its creation in 1999, over 100 Tau Sigma chapters at colleges all across the country have worked with students and schools to recruit and support transfer students.

Membership into the IUB chapter of the society is by invitation only, and invitations are sent out each year in early January. Learn more about Tau Sigma eligibility and invitations, meet the IUB Tau Sigma chapter officers, and read quotes from current members.

  • Transfer Student Kick-off

This exclusive event for transfer students gives you the opportunity to network, ask questions, and have some fun! You can learn about IU student life from your classmates, and find out about other events and programs designed specifically for transfer students.

The 2014 Transfer Student Kick-off was held on Wednesday, August 20 at 5:30pm in Woodburn Hall 101. Join the IUB Transfer Students Facebook Group for more updates.

  • Transfer Credits

Many transfer students have questions about which credits from their previous institution will transfer to IU Bloomington. The Office of Admissions has a useful tool called the Credit Transfer Service, which you can use to verify which courses you’ve previously taken transfer to IU Bloomington!

  • Housing Options

Did you know that over 60% of transfer students live on campus for their first year at IU? IU's Residential Programs and Services offers a variety of housing options for different needs. Check out all the options, and learn more about IU's learning communities by visiting the RPS housing guide.

  • Transfer Advising

University Division is the home to academic advising at IU Bloomington. Make an appointment to see an advisor to make sure you are meeting your academic requirements!
