CONNECT with Students

Find your home at IU

In addition to getting ready for IU and learning how to be a Hoosier, NSO is about making connections and forming relationships that will last four years—and even longer. Throughout the program, we’ll offer a variety of virtual spaces and events where you can connect with other new Hoosiers, current IU students, and the IU community.

During your NSO reservation process, you select a time to attend a required student group meeting, during which you’ll learn about campus and meet other new Hoosiers. The meeting will last about an hour led by an Orientation Team member—a current IU student who will help you throughout the NSO program and as you start your first year at IU.

Ways to connect

NSO will help you connect with your future classmates before you even arrive to campus. Here are just a few ways you can expect to meet Hoosiers through NSO:

  • Get to know your Orientation Leader. They will be in touch with you in a variety of ways to learn more about you, make sure you have the information you need, and introduce you to others.
  • Join the online network for first-year Hoosiers. You’ll receive an invite in your IU email (so make sure yours is set up). Once you’ve signed up, you can chat with other new Hoosiers, ask the OTeam questions, and hear the real talk on life at IU.
  • Attend your student group meeting. When you make your NSO reservation, you’ll confirm the date and time for your required student group meeting. This virtual gathering will take place during your week of virtual orientation events.
