Orientation and Transition

Welcome Week

Induction Activities

The Freshman Induction Ceremony marks, with pageantry and fanfare, the beginning of your IU career. Your family is also invited to attend.

Held at the IU Auditorium, this tradition includes a welcome and advice from distinguished guests such as IU President Michael A. McRobbie. You’ll also be invited to make your Indiana Promise, a commitment to IU and to yourself to be ethical, responsible, and respectful.

Afterwards, join other families and members of the IU community for the induction picnic under a canopy of trees.

Reservations

To ease your planning, two ceremonies are scheduled; new students and their families may attend either one. Each ceremony is approximately 45 minute in length, with the picnic immediately following.  Tickets are not required to attend the Freshman Induction Ceremony, but you are asked to make reservations.  New students will be sent information about RSVPs during the summer prior to their freshman year.
