Mailings and Publications
This postcard will help you plan out the weeks and months ahead. You’ll learn what you should do now to get ready for NSO, what important deadlines are coming, whom to contact with questions and more. Share this postcard with your family—they’ll want to read about the program we offer specifically for them. Postcards are sent out starting in February.
Freshmen admitted for the fall semester will receive their postcard through the mail; all other students will receive an electronic postcard.
Invitation to NSO
The invitation is your cue to reserve your space at in NSO. We begin mailing invitations in mid-March to incoming students who are planning to enroll at IU in the fall. Freshmen admitted for the fall semester will receive their invitation through the mail; all other students will receive an electronic postcard.
In order to be invited and to choose an orientation date, new students must complete the Intent to Enroll form (this does not apply to students transferring to IUB from another IU campus). Freshmen students must also pay their enrollment deposit through the Office of Admissions. New students entering IU during a summer session or during the spring semester will be sent the orientation invitation by email.
NSO Preparation Packet
In addition to the online reservation confirmation, students attending summer NSO will receive a preparation packet approximately 3-4 weeks before their program date. Students attending orientation at other times will receive the program information they need electronically.
Read these materials carefully and share them with your family members, because they include important information like what to expect, what to bring, and where to park. Your packet will also contain academic materials and other items to read and fill out before orientation.
At orientation, we provide students and parents/family with an NSO Handbook. This handbook serves as a tool for references and connections throughout your orientation experience.
